ABOUT MKULIMA MBUNIFU (MkM)
Mkulima Mbunifu (MkM) Magazine is a Farmer Communication Programme project that is implemented in Tanzania since July 2011 with support from Biovision Foundation, Switzerland and Biovision Africa Trust (BvAT), Nairobi, Kenya. The publication aims to provide information to smallholder farmers to enable them adopt improved sustainable agriculture technologies and practices. It also aims to provide information to extension workers, researchers and students and to sensitize them on the available technologies and what needs to be done to improve the lifestyle of smallholder farmers in Tanzania. Government and private institutions, CBOs, NGOs, farmers groups, extension officers and individuals continue to support contents and distribution of the magazine.
The purpose of the project is to enhance economic, social and environmental livelihoods of smallholder farmers in Tanzania through increased adoption of ecologically sustainable agriculture (ESA) and improved agricultural productivity. One of its project objectives is timely production of ESA themed monthly MkM magazine with content and design that is attractive, relevant to farmer needs, and credible.
Mkulima Mbunifu Magazine seeks to support smallholder farmers by providing education on Ecological Sustainable Agriculture practices through printing 15,000 copies of Mkulima Mbunifu magazine every month. The magazine is distributed to farmers groups, schools and institutions, NGOS, CBO, extensions and individuals farmers across the country. estimated to reach more than 125,000 farmers in Tanzania through its print version.
Mkulima Mbunifu Magazine is looking for a qualified and reputable firm or individual to provide design and layout services for its twelve editions magazine.
The assignment
To execute BvAT’s Mkulima Mbunifu Magazine (MkM) document layout, design and revisions.
This position will suit someone who is highly methodical, detailed and hard working with a creative spark and sound knowledge and understanding of graphic design.
Requirements for Designing and layout
- Strong theoretical and practical background in graphic design, including the use of design software’s more specifically InDesign and photo shop.
- Good understanding of new and evolving technologies and digital platforms
- Knowledge of standard software packages
- Good Proven experience, samples are required.
- The company or individual be fully registered and based in Tanzania with easy access to Mkulima Mbunifu.
- Agreement will be for a period of one year with the possibility of extension, subject to availability of funds.
Description of work
- Mkulima Mbunifu will provide the Designer with all documents required for the design of the MkM edition per month.
- The designer will prepare a template and design 8 pages of the MkM magazine within 5 days including two proofs before final approval by the MkM manager for printing
- The designer will be responsible for communicating with the printer to make a follow-up of the printing and delivery of 15,000 copies of the magazine by the 05th date of each month.
Outputs/ Deliverables
- High quality, clear, and attractive design in line with MkM branding requirements and within specified deadlines.
- Any other output specified by the MkM Project Manager for each assignment.
- BvAT’s Mkulima Mbunifu will hold all copyrights to the published material.
